Citizen recruitment at NOHEIC
NOHEIC is recruiting citizens to its scientific council to strengthen the diversity of perspectives in scientific decision-making processes.
NOHEIC's scientific council is a group of scientists from various Quebec universities with research interests related to the issues raised by contaminant emissions. Members contribute, among other things, to the scientific orientation of NOHEIC's research program. Citizen members play a valuable role in enhancing the richness of the council's perspectives by bringing in community viewpoints, and thus contributing to the development of scientific programming better adapted to the realities of the population as a whole.
Who should apply?
NOHEIC is looking for people who live in a community affected by issues related to the impact of contaminant emissions from smelters on health and the environment. These people must reside in Quebec and be 18 years of age or older. No specific skills, experience or education are required.
Citizen members of the scientific council have a role equivalent to that of the other members, i.e. :
- Identify gaps in knowledge;
- Prioritize scientific research needs;
- Advise on preferred methods for knowledge development and dissemination;
- Participate in thematic sub-committees as required.
Want to get involved?
Citizens must be available to participate in scientific council meetings, by videoconference and occasionally in person. Meetings are held no more frequently than twice a month. Individuals must be able to share their opinions at meetings and comment on the documents discussed. They must also invest time in preparing for meetings and reading documents.
Anyone interested should submit a form outlining their motivation for joining the scientific council and explaining their interest in scientific discussions.
NOHEIC is committed to promoting equity and diversity within the scientific council by respecting UQAT's institutional objectives on equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
