NOHEIC unveils the program for its 2026 symposium!

The National observatory on health and environmental impacts of contaminant (NOHEIC) has announced the release of the preliminary program for its 2026 symposium. From May 24 to 26, this second annual event will bring together the scientific research community and the general public to discuss issues related to contaminants and health.

The program features an opening night and two main days of scientific content and discussions, designed to promote both the dissemination of knowledge and dialogue. The first day focuses on recent scientific advances through presentations showcasing research findings from various disciplines. The second day consists of two main segments. First, the Fonds de recherche du Québec (FRQ) will present the research projects to be funded by the Programme de recherche sur l’évaluation des contaminants et des incidences sur la santé et sur l’environnement (PRÉCISE) (Contaminants and environmental health impact assessment research program) in collaboration with NOHEIC. Next, a roundtable discussion on the topic “Literature and science: the art of telling stories about pollution,” featuring a variety of stakeholders from the writing and publishing communities.

In addition, the NOHEIC symposium is integrated into the program of the Festival des guitares du monde en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (FGMAT). It will feature three public lectures on the festival’s outdoor stage in the late afternoon and will incorporate the free musical performances on that same stage into the conference schedule.

The detailed program, including the schedule of presentations and information on how to participate, is now available online. Those interested are invited to visit the NOHEIC 2026 Symposium page to explore all the activities and plan their participation.
