Grégoire Osoha's book Atome 33

Grégoire Osoha's book Atome 33 traces the mobilization of the citizens of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, in the face of toxic emissions from the Horne smelter, particularly arsenic pollution. The back cover reads (free translation):

David versus Goliath, in the 21st century, against a backdrop of power and money.
Rouyn-Noranda is a prosperous town in western Quebec built around the Horne copper smelter. When its residents learn in 2019 that their children have much higher-than-average arsenic levels, they turn to the smelter to ask it to reduce its invisible pollution. What they don't realize is the immense influence of the company in front of them, which is none other than the global commodities giant Glencore.

Grégoire Osoha followed the collective action of these determined citizens and traces the history of the smelter and the multinational. He tries to understand why it is so difficult to win a case, even when health is affected, and points out the excesses of a system that seems ready to do anything in the name of profit. »

The book is published by Marchialy in France, and is scheduled for release in Quebec on April 28, 2025. The Marchialy website has this to say about the author:
« Grégoire Osoha worked for Amnesty International France for several years, and is now a freelance journalist, documentary filmmaker and podcaster. Atome 33 is his second book for Marchialy, following Voyage au Liberland. »
