The Horne smelter, lived experience and risk perceptions of the residents of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec.
This research is being conducted as part of Éric Bégin’s master’s project, under the supervision of Sabrina Doyon and Emmanuelle Bouchard-Bastien, professors in the department of anthropology at Université Laval. The project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada.
Nature of the study
Participation in this research offers an opportunity to discuss and reflect, in complete confidentiality, on your living environment in Rouyn-Noranda (neighborhood, community, environment), as well as on your personal perceptions of what constitutes a risk. The objective of the study is to provide a private space for discussion in order to highlight the perspectives of Rouyn-Noranda residents, adopting a qualitative rather than quantitative approach. Participants will be invited to share their lived experiences, concerns, and aspirations regarding the risks present in their living environment. The project is intended for residents living within the urban perimeter of Rouyn-Noranda, specifically the neighborhoods of Notre-Dame, Centre-Ville, de l’Université, Sacré-Cœur and Noranda-Nord.
