An interdisciplinary symposium in Rouyn-Noranda composed of two parts: Spectralités et spéculations du lac Osisko and Réécrire la forêt boréale.

What practices are encouraged, permitted, or assumed when addressing environmental issues? A cursory treatment of such matters might confine them to the realm of the natural sciences, or alternatively to economic or social sciences. However, the fields of literature and the arts also engage with these issues in rigorous and sometimes unexpected ways.

This interdisciplinary symposium in Rouyn-Noranda will unfold in two segments:

Spectralités et spéculations du lac Osisko
Approximately thirty researchers and creators who develop a sensitive knowledge in literature, visual arts, spatial planning, and environmental studies will present works derived from the project Spectralités et spéculations du lac Osisko. This segment is overseen by Jonathan Hope (UQAM), Martin Beauregard (UQAT), Charlotte Biron (co-researcher, CRILCQ, UQAM), Shabnam Rahbar (Université de Montréal), and Geneviève Aubry (Collectif territoire).

Réécrire la forêt boréale
A collaborative project dedicated to the creation of literary texts inspired by research in forest ecology. Attendees are invited to public readings of texts produced as part of the Réécrire la forêt boréale project. This segment is led by Jonathan Hope (UQAM), Cassie Bérard (UQAM), Catherine Cyr (UQAM), Miguel Montoro Girona (UQAT), and Guillaume Grosbois (UQAT).
