Symposium objectives

Objective 1: Evaluate the current state of research on the health and environmental impacts of contaminant emissions in Rouyn-Noranda

  • Review significant past studies;
  • Present recent findings such as dissertations, theses, scientific articles or citizen science contributions;
  • Present new or preliminary results from recently funded research projects.

Objective 2: Conduct outreach and knowledge-transfer activities

  • Deliver accessible presentations (e.g., evening sessions);
  • Facilitate an exchange between the NOHEIC scientific council and the public.

Objective 3: Conduct a workshop to assess the scientific knowledge needs of the Rouyn-Noranda community regarding the health and environmental impacts of contaminant emissions

  • Organize a two-hour workshop to assess knowledge needs, identify concerns and establish priorities;
  • Invite the general public;
  • Use the outcomes of this session to inform future calls for proposals.

Call for presentations: share your work !

NOHEIC invites researchers, professional staff and students to submit a presentation proposal to contribute to the symposium discussions. Proposals should be submitted by March 14, 2025. A budget has been allocated to cover certain travel and accommodation expenses for participants traveling to Rouyn-Noranda.
