Maikel Rosabal Rodriguez
Professor, Department of biological sciences, Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM)
Maikel Rosabal obtained his PhD in 2015 from the Institut national de recherche scientifique - Eau Terre Environnement (INRS-ETE), Canada. He is affiliated with the research units Centre de recherche en toxicologie de l'environnement (TOXEN) and Groupe de recherche interuniversitaire en limnologie et en environnement aquatique (GRIL). In ecotoxicology, his work focuses on understanding how trace metals induce deleterious effects by interacting with essential physiological biomolecules at the subcellular level in various tissues of aquatic organisms. The laboratory he heads focuses on assessing the biochemical and physiological consequences of these interactions, at both individual and ecosystem scales. Methodological approaches include laboratory and field experiments, subcellular metal partitioning techniques and hyphenated methods in environmental metallomics, to develop tools for assessing the impact of trace metals on aquatic ecosystems.
