Cathy Vaillancourt

Cathy Vaillancourt is also associate professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the Université de Montréal. She directs the Réseau Communautés rurales et éloignées en santé (CARES) of the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS) and co-directs the health axis of the Institut nordique du Québec (INQ). Her areas of expertise include placentology, pregnancy toxicology and the impact of environmental factors on the neuroendocrinology of the human placenta. Her current research focuses on the effects of environmental contaminants and the seasons of pregnancy on placental functions and fetal development, with a particular interest in placental dopaminergic, serotonergic and melatoninergic systems.
